I record lots of vocals as well so I did not want to rely on overbridge and the DT as an interface.
I was going to bite the bullet and get an Apollo for vocals but that would cut me short on recording my DT and synth jams.
The Motu M4 is sold out everywhere and it was the only one I liked with 4 inputs.
I have 3 questions:
What can you recommend for great pre amps but also tracking out jams at super low latency?
2)Is this a situation where I would get something like a tiny soundcraft mixer and just sum it into a 2in audio interface?
3)Why do so many people use mixers for routing before DAW even though they only have one synth and a digitakt? Was wondering how it could actually benefit me.
You can check Focusrite Scarlett or even better Clarett.
Very low latency and - I never tested - people say the preamp are very transparent.
some people prefere hardware than software, so they also prefere mixing on hardware than in the DAW.
Sometime you can see some people using incredibly complex routing hardware for nothing. I think the more straight and the less AD/DA is the best.
Personnaly, I have a Digitakt and an analog polysynth and I use a Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 just with Line input. But there is always at least 2 mic inputs on Scarlett.
1.claret 4pre from focusrite
2.no better to spend that money on a daw controller with motorized faders
( and that is comming from somebody who loves working with analoge mixing desks)
3 working otb and just using a pc/daw as mullti track recording
Fore there eq’s, sound colouring , the immediacy of the view off your mixx etc etc
Go for the M4, it was in stock the other day at B&H, I just ordered one. Sign up for restocking notices if it’s out. Unless you need it immediately, then go for the Scarlett
