What gear would you like to see elektron do next?

Why not the MPC Live then? Compact, portable and very capable.

Hello, yes, maybe this is the only device for now.

In my case the MPC Live was pretty closeā€¦ but fell short on automation (Elektronā€™s p-locks ruined every other sequencers for me).

Btw, I forgot to mention, I have Roland JD-Xi which is a very good unit. It has 4 tracks: 2 digital synths, 1 drum track and 1 analog synth.
The problem is that the sequencer is very limited to my opinion.
4 tracks are also not enoughā€¦
and the general feeling of this device is not on a ā€œproā€ level to my opinion.

So will there be a DigiForce?

Not for me, too much like a less powerful laptop without the benefits, same for mpc live and x, by that I mean they are basically a computer but with options removed and a specialised interface and software added, I have never used one but from what I read about them I donā€™t think Iā€™d get along with them, anything that takes a while to boot and runs on top of a computer operating system does not appeal to me. I also think such devices get superseded very quickly, maybe Iā€™m in the minority but I prefer to buy gear that will last for years and does not rely on continuous software updates for the few years that the manufacturer supports it.

I once owned a Roland MV-8800, great machine but really just like a slow DAW running custom software.

Not saying that any of the above mentioned devices wonā€™t fill the role for others BTW.

Personally, I think a digital mixer would be incredible.

  • Would have a generous number of tracks (8 or 16?)
  • Multiple effects that can be set up per track and as send effects (compression, drive, chorus, delay, reverb, etc.)
  • A few LFOs
  • Digital patchbay-like routing options
  • External effects loop for pedals
  • Maybe even a sequencer for p-locking the effects

Take that, add Overbridge track streaming, and you can skip the audio interface even. Would make it super simple to switch between DAW and DAW-less.

As to the softwareā€¦ absolutely agree! Hardware stays for yearsā€¦ but software - constant updatesā€¦

Good idea, and to combine Digitone and Digitakt with what you mentionedā€¦

So I want to see All In One device from Electron like Digitakt+Digitone+Digimixer(with pro mixing/mastering effects)=DigiAllInOne or DigiDAWless

Octatrack can do that. It can be used as synth and a drum machine, even without samples.

I have a Deluge, it is a very good machine for sure, the arranger on it is quite brilliant, the sampling, synth engine and fx are all useable but still need some slight improvement IMHO. But having said this you get a lot of depth and the manufacturer is dedicated to improving it, the beta is only open to facebook users which is a real shame but their preference as it keeps it all in one place which I can understand.

The FM synth may at first seem a bit limited but is actually very useable, it brings its own twist which I like, you can have the operators phase synced which is really handy for percussion, it isnā€™t trying to be a DX, between it the Digitone and Volca FM my FM needs are more than catered for.

It has CV and midi sequencing, pretty reasonably unlimited tracks, tracks of different lengths and time signatures, can play stems, has trig conditions, parameter locks, and a lot of very cool stuff.

It is very portable with good battery life, great build quality and the v3.0 coming later this year adds a lot of great new stuff.

Iā€™d definitely recommend watching some of the many video tutorials on it to get a better idea of its capabilities as it is a very capable machine, there are a few things that bug me about it but these are outweighed by things that are really great, overall though Iā€™d personally take it over an MPC Live any day because it is less DAW like.

In most cases it really makes the most of its physical interface, with a few exceptions, notably the auto zoom behaviour, scale mode, mute mode defaults and a few other things which I hope in the future will be user preferences. There are a lot of hold this button and this encoder operations, so it takes a little while for the muscle memory to kick in, the synth editing shortcuts though are much quicker to learn and very logically laid out as well as being labelled on the panel.

A Dawless DAW with lockless locks, or a Doorless Door with keyless locks.
