I’ve got no videos but I pretty much start with anything other than drums and just wing it from there.

I should try that too. Not the drums first. Good variety.
This is just personal opinion mainly for personal use, but I feel that while drums are the very foundation of a song and are therefore perhaps the most important, it’s usually a bassline or melodic element that gives a song its ‘identity’. That’s why I like to start there. If I get something good going in one of those categories I know that I should be able to build up drum sounds and sequences to fit.
