Happy, and I work on it constantly. Electronic music has been a large part of that recently. If I’m having a ton of anxiety I grab a piece of gear and put on headphones. Currently rehearsing for my next gig. Second one… this one is a door deal ha ha and I’m just one of many acts that night. I’m 53 so I’m crazy excited about it. But I had to make that excitement happen. That type of happiness is hard work.

I’d like to be free of my the mysterious and apparently undiagnosable tendon/ muscle issues which have plagued me for almost 2 years.

I’d like to learn to be equally content with less stuff.

I’d like to find wonder in the everyday. That sounds mildly ridiculous typed out, but it’s a feeling I very much miss and would like to try and cultivate again.

I want to create with freedom, not worrying how it fits into a song or idea.

Around 2008, I started a practice of free improvisation -alone, with a trio or with strangers. It consisted in 1-2 hours sessions of continuous musical creation. No codes to comply with, neither in esthetics not structure. An encounter. The moment. Kairos.

It basically made me more confident about one fact: I can have ideas and it’s not a problem if a good idea does not end into a good song.

There is very few material left from this period but what I know is that it is the period I progressed the most in my general musical practice. Technically?.. Well, not that much, but mentally, fore sure.

I am letting go of this thing that pushes me to create a certain type of techno rather than anything that comes naturally and flows out of me.

Already started a few months back. And it has been both difficult and super easy. Difficult because I feel like playing techno live is really a great thing to do but it simply is not the only thing i can focus on as it makes me feel quite insecure for some reason. Super easy because I don’t have to think about the direction I have to create something in. I can just be the artist free of any boundaries.

Huge question, but I’ll stick to music-related and not existentialism.

As much as I really enjoy electronic music, and devices and the flow of things when I’m disciplined and not procrastinating (I like that from some comment above as being what GAS can be for some, and I definitely can fall into that category). It’s such a cool-vibe when I just sit back and DO things, and quite rewarding.

But despite of that what I really want to be is:
The trumpet player I used to be. That covers just about every base regarding getting better in ‘the studio’ (lol) and personal lifestyle choices. So… THIS: the trumpet player I used to be (and it’s not that hard; just takes time and discipline and ‘boundaries’)

And then it gets existential.
