this could be my favourite electronic track ever.
thing is i can’t really tell, as the mix is has been so butchered by the Clone remaster.
would love to hear the original mix.
bonus audio. cos i think it’s got the same synth!? anyone can spot it? (the arco strings? emu ting?)
mono recording from Ramjac’s Netil radio show last night, featuring preview of upcoming release of Ramjac Corporation 88-92 tracks.
pretty deep cut and some nice info alongside.
Death Cult live tonight in London. Genuinely astonishing.
Like no comeback show I have ever seen. Forty years on and…jaw droopingly good. Small venue, no reason for them to do it bar I guess fun and (maybe) validation. Whatever, they nailed it and it brought warmth to my cold black middle aged goth heart.
I was just going through an old box of records and I came across this Chet Baker album that I haven’t listened to in a couple of years. The thing that I appreciate about Chet Baker is that on a brisk fall evening, his music can transport you to just about anywhere.
I can’t believe I’ve only just come across this gem of a track.
A couple of observations:
The official video (first link) with the studio cut of the track is a little cringey, IMHO. If anyone can explain why it’s not a cringey, derivative display, I’m all ears.
If you’ve never heard this song before, just maybe listen, and don’t think about the video too much. I think the production on the studio track is amazing.
The chorus haunts me with a reminder of Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit, “…I feel stupid…”
In the live performance, (second link), we see what is, possibly, the most understated use of a Tempest in the history of all mankind.
