Still think this is the pinnacle of UK Hip Hop 6 years later. This was the paradigm shift in making me want to make something other than house/techno. Absolute craft.

I believe it was @AdamJay that posted it (but I could be wrong, sorry), but I’d never heard Max Richer’s “The Four Seasons Recomposed”, which is weird because it’s kind of in my wheelhouse. Anyway, that got me on a kick of some other compositions I liked, along with other way different stuff that actually feels kind of similar in a way…

It’s just so good. It was revisited with another orchestra and released this year. Faster, more minimal. I like both. But in either case, “Summer 3” is a pure banger.
Parts of Tool’s 10,000 Days album remind me of it. It’s all in the arrangements.

Yeah I’d learned most of what I know about classical music and that whole universe of composition in college, which was quite a bit before it “Recomposed…”, or really most of anything he put out, was released, so it was just never on my radar, but it really is so good. Even if it’s usually not your thing, you absolutely should check it out, it’s worth it.
