I had an opportunity to talk to Michael Cimino a few years ago and asked about his use of cavatina. Interestingly he had tried to get the rights to use it on thunderbolt and light foot but couldn’t then had more leverage by the time he made deer Hunter. How lucky was that? Outstanding film.

And when your first film score is Citizen Kane and your last is taxi driver you did ok! Vertigo is maybe my favourite though.

Wow, that’s awesome!! There is something about the way films were made in the 70’s. The storytelling wasn’t done with a hurry so that there really was lots of time for creating a mood that stands out. Cavatina absolutely adds so much to Deer Hunter.
IMO it almost wouldn’t be the same movie without it.

This house is on a Kate Bush kick. Thank you Duffers for being one of the few people that gets my teen to actually bother listening to shit I recommend
