I know this may well be regurgitating old links but seriously, I cannot thank you enough for this link way back. It haunts me and I clamour hungrily for every update in lieu of the ability to attend these fantastical installations.

Probably the Making of Rumours since he does talk about engineering/recording and the debauchery. His writing style is not great but, he does manage to convey a lot of interesting info. Also the Stevie Nicks bio is pretty entertaining.

Does Get Tusked cover a lot of the technical stuff? The sound of that album is so fascinating but the reviews of the book on Amazon are mixed. I’m such a Tusk fan, though, that I’d probably dig it no matter what.
It covers the technical stuff in a way where he is trying to explain it to your average person. I guess he’s trying to appeal to music fans in general and not just musicians/engineers/etc. But yes, he does explain a lot; especially Lindsey Buckingham’s home studio demos and how they incorporated them into the record. It’s such an underrated album. I mean, he’s a record producer, not a writer, but he does a good job considering. Since this thread asks what we’re listening to, today I turned my attention to The Smiths’ first album and U2’s Joshua Tree, in my opinion, two perfect albums.
