Yeah I this is what I meant as I only really use timestretch as a gag… I guess more people than I realize do use it all the time though, I just always prefer to keep my stuff as midi so I can just alter the notes as needed. It still doesn’t seem like many people use hardware for it though.
Akai s2000 drone stretches - 2000% just goes long off into somewhere.
Emu esi time stretch is fun/ok, but you can ts and afterwards pitch shift and then sample loop modulation through the waves and also use the weird Doppler pan and if you have three days of time available (takes so long) use the transform multiply function
this gave me a spiritual awakening lmao. how unexpected that it would sound like that
Octatrack - 6400% time stretch and pitch real time control of 8 tracks.
I’ve actually started using PaulStretch to create dope ass vocal layers on our new album. I’ll take the vocal recording (that’s been edited, timed, pitch corrected, etc) and paul stretch it by 2 with a “smear” factor of 1 or 2. Then I sync that with the main vocal as a background layer. It’s not quite like a reverb, but it’s super trippy and adds some awesome body to the vocals.
I use timestretch mostly for keeping my loops in time but only by small changes in bpm. But I just started messing around with setting the rate dial to timestretch and mapping the rate and pitch to the xfader and warping synth an vocal lines. The OT is so frickin deep - love this box
Crazy shit, thanks, well done. OT calls me again, ha.
Btw how did you do synch a ts. How much percent can the ot Ts - one million ️
This is what I use it for, this is only Paul Stretch, some delays and Microtonic:
Just curious. I’ve found a E-MU Esi2000 for sale for dirt cheap. Would it be worth it if I don’t have any hardware sampler? Do you think it would slow my workflow, being an older unit?
To make the days longer
Time going way too fast these days
And make boring / working moments faster…
if its dirt cheap, and you have never used a hardware sampler, give it a try.
the esi is actually a pretty easy to use sampler but yeh, rack samplers do slow down the process, but sometimes slow is a good thing!
Can you sample live through the inputs or do you have to load samples through disk drive? I can’t seem to find a clear answer.
hey mate, you can sample thru the inputs but also can load via floppy or zip or an add on hd.
old school sampling is a stop start affair - as opposed to ableton and the ot which are ‘live on the fly’ sampling.
So on the esi you push the sample button, take the sample, the sampler processes the sample and then you can real time manipulate.
good luck
I got the old stand alone working, but was totally unaware of the plugin version. HUGE. Thank you !
Might have to check this out.
I am fully stealing this idea. Thanks!!
As long as we get credit in your album credits! Haha.
Implying I’ll ever finish an album…
Used this as well recently, pretty awesome
