What am I doing wrong?

Ok so dilemma is as follows:

I want to use my korg volca Fm with the digitakt sequencer.

I know this is relatively easy to do. I select a midi track on the digitakt and make sure the channel is the same as the volca, link via midi and go chromatic and bam! It works

However…

I want to be able to sequence the volca fm with the digitakt using an external midi keyboard.

When I plug my midi keyboard to the digitakts midi in, when I play a note it plays the first audio track and the volca is only responsive via the digitakts keys.

So put it simply, how can I play korg volca with a midi keyboard using the digitakt as the main sequencer?

Many thanks folks

Stevie

you need to choose the midi track…and disable the midi channel for the audio tracks…

Ok so now at the point of frustration…

I have worked out how to play notes on the volca fm with a midi keyboard using the auto channel function (14)

I can play full chords with my keyboard on the volca with all midi info going through the digitakt.

So why can’t i sequence this son of b!tch?!

When I play notes freely in step mode they won’t sequence at all. The digitakt just isn’t recording notes into the sequencer.

I’m not normally a praying man…

But superman if you are out there please help me!

Many thanks

Are you sure you’re in live record mode, not just step mode? Hold REC and press PLAY. REC button should be flashing.

This could be embarassing…

Thank you hotscience man

And, FYI, pressing play multiple times while holding REC toggles between quantized and unquantized live recording.

Also I’m pretty sure when you are in regular step record mode (NOT live sequencing), you can hold down a trigger and then, while still holding that trig, press a note or chord on your keyboard, and it should record that into the trig you’re holding down. Haven’t personally tested this myself but pretty sure I’ve seen it in vids

Yup that works. Perfect for correcting wrong notes when using live rec!
