Weird question about the AK in terms of size

Ok so I’m a long time user of the A4 and love it. Im thinking of upgrading to AK soon but was just wondering if the space on the right hand side where “Analog Keys is written” is wide enough to fit my Analog RYTM or MPC1000 to fit so it can all go on a single keyboard stand when I play live?

No

From edge of righmost knob to edge of box: 7.5" / 18.5cm
From back of box edge to top of keyboard: 6" / 15.3cm

Quite poor design when you think about it. They should have made it a little bit bigger for that scenario.

I personally would have designed it with an empty hollow, that would snugly fit in one of A4/AR/OT in there… of course, the hollow would have a removeable lid.

Available for hire as industrial desginer / coder / coffee drinker by music instrument companies. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

It would have been cool if they’d extended it to 49 keys with a removable panel where you could nest another Elektron box in there… It’s barely big enough to fit my Strymon Deco, and I get really nervous about it marring up the matte finish.

Could add a simple 2nd tier to your kb stand for Rytm.

I’m the rare breed that wish the AK were smaller.

Fits my tablet nicely though

I completely agree with this. I wouldn’t want less keys, but they could’ve made it narrower in both directions and a bit thinner too. Either that or keep it the way it is and add more knobs and a nice OLED screen.

Right, something similar to Access Virus Indigo 37 key width.
I think 32 keys would be the minimum.
like Mopho Keyboard.
Oh well, we’ll deal!

The problem with that is the A4/AK is incredibly hard to see and use any of the controls, let alone even see their tiny screens when placed on too high up of a tier or under anything makes it impossible to conveniently use and with the keys hanging out exposed a bit on the AK as the old original ARP Odyssey was, makes it very susceptible to being damaged, thus for me at least, the AK would require it’s own studio real estate and the tiny LCD and my older eyes just cannot do it.

It looks like it would be big enough for a Monotribe, so it could be used on the CV channel as a 5th voice…

Hmmm, perfect size for a Nord Drum 1!

That space fits a Roland VT-3 pretty well. Not perfect but stable and not really in the way of the AK’s controls.

Thread resurrection alert!

It seems from the dimensions posted above that a Digitakt would more or less fit nicely on top of an AK. What do people think? That would be a nice streamlined live rig, eh?

Hmmm…
