I’m new to the analog rytm mkii and i slowly learn the machine…
I sampled my oberheim dx into the AR and immediately noticed a high roll off on the imported samples (in direct recording and via files transfer).
I discovered that the filter of the AR was active with the low pass filter activated.
I checked the manual and Google but still didn’t find how to shut it off yet.
Could someone help me on this?
There is somewhere a deeper explanation by someone from Elektron (@Ess maybe?) about how to have the minimum distorsion on your signal path. But I can’t find it right now.
I’ve found that a Level slightly below 100 usually sounds the cleanest when using fully normalized samples. Use your ears and set it at a level which you think sounds the best.
Also, the signal path post-sample playback is fully analog, so you will have some coloration from the VCA, VCF and the mixing stages of the Rytm. This is the sound of the unit as should be from such an instrument. Personally, I think samples sound amazing and come alive nicely on the Rytm.
If you want fully transparent sound you should use a fully digital instrument. (albeit there will always be some difference across instruments, sotftware and so on due to different ways of interpolating, filtering, etc etc… Although I would say that these differences are minute and you should just follow your ears and not get hung up on whethere there is a difference or not - just if it sounds good.)
EDIT: Regarding roll-off, try setting the filter to high pass or peak instead.
