I just found out that Wavosaur can slice an audio file i.e. you can create markers, and export the marked regions. The files could then be merged with the octachainer program from the files section.
Essentially you could automatically create "N" regions - so you could split the recording (for example 64 bars from Abelton live VST synth recording to 64 regions - export those for 64 one bar sections, which you could merge again with the octachainer for a 64 slices sample chain.)
Probably you did know this already - but for me it was a real life and workload saver.
