Wavefinder - Generate wavetables with Tonverk ONLY

Well done. An essential technique!

So, for simpletons like me, is it the case that if I internally resample audio on Tonverk at 87.9 tempo for 1 bar, will result in the closest wavetable to the sample? So far I’ve not had great results, with everything sounding quite thin and harsh. Dropping 4 octaves gives some of the harmonics and tone but by then there’s lots of noise and clicking.

My understanding is that will only work if the thing you started with is

But I have to admit the 1st post is not 100% clear to me, so I’ll happily amend or delete this post if I’ve made things less clear.

You have to consider the pattern as a 64 slices grid to make it work.

If you play wrong frequency it cannot work. For tests you can use the sine wave I made.

It is possible to apply an lfo on amp vol, or use trigs with 1 step envelope…

Possible to record less slices.
16 slices: record at 175.8 bpm, scale X2, 1/2 bar recording (because of scale x 2).

If I’m playing a sample, I would sample it at middle c. I’m not sure how to apply what you’re saying about slices and frequency to this. Does the 64 slices automatically happen at 87.9 tempo? How do I find out what frequency (pitch?) I need to play the sample at? Sorry for my ignorance.

Nope.
2048 is the wavelength : 2048 / 48 000 = 0,042666s, which correspond to 23.4375 Hz, almost a F#1 (+23 cents ?) iirc. Wavefinder will play it as a middle C if you play a middle C.

That’s the way wavetables works…I calculated that frequency from specs.
The number of slices can be below 64.

No. The pattern at 87.9 bpm is a reference. If you want to avoid artifacts, note frequency has to match, or you need to create an enveloppe for each “slice”.
Enveloppe can be done with an lfo, BUS trigs with enveloppe…

If you’re not sure, I’d recommend to try with my sine wave, 87.9 bpm, apply fx, record…

2 wavetables made with internal recording from my 23.4375 Hz sine at 87.9 bpm.

I made W2 in order to modulate W1.
Check W1 / W2 on the right to know which one is displayed.
