Waldorf Pulse II

I just tried 1.20 also fails. Coincidence I guess? I’ve asked Waldorf for the switch part number.

By the way - shift button is by far the worst affected.

What is the deal with the Waldorf knobs and buttons? Did they never switch to better ones on the Blofelds and Pulses? Was there a manufacture year after which their reliability improved?

Dunno, but this was one of the units in the final Pulse2 sell-off rush, so I’m assuming it’s not an old one. It hasn’t had too much use.

If I can get the part number, maybe there’s a compatible higher quality replacement? Will try and find out…

The year of manufacture is in the first two digits of the serial number. Mine is from 2015.
I managed to revive semi-functional buttons on my Nords by pressing them a few dozens times, gently but firmly and from slightly different angles after longer non-use. Maybe the Pulse has spent a long time in warehouses.
Recently my Blofeld’s pitch-bend wheel started sending random messages. Took me a moment to figure out where the weird detune effect on all my synths originated from. A bit of back and forth fixed that issue as well.

I have exactly the same problem with my Nord buttons and dials. They need a weekly exercise.

These are a different type though, so it’s not a cure for the Pulse 2 (I did try it).

I’m wondering if it’s a soldering / contact issue, since rocking the switch slightly makes contact. Could be cured by re-soldering. I’ll see if my electronics mate can do that for me.

This one is a 2018 via serial number, so not ever-so new.

For info - Waldorf haven’t given me the part number for the button switches. They’ve only suggested taking it to someone to fix. :man_shrugging:
