Works from the UK too, thanks. £31 - bargain ![]()
Thanks for the info! Didn’t know…
So when some developers add undo buttons inside of the plugin UI, does that mean that they have to implement some kind of internal memory buffer?
Ah interesting. Feels like some of the underlying plugin hosting stuff in Live is a bit outdated, also thinking of the need for the “configure” system and the 128 parameter limit. Hopefully they overhaul this at some point
Can you make some demo beats , and post them here, so we can have a listen of your creations? I am a bit nostalgic here, as i started with the Rack Attack and MicroQ HW bundle 23 years ago. Sold them both, and regrettet it ever since, as the sound capabilitys were very good, i just didnt have a proper hw sequencer back then, and editing on rack units isnt that much fun either.
…really don’t wanna come around as a hater, but…
just stumbled over a little look what IT can do vid…
and boah ey, what a lame and hyperoutdated duck this is…
but hey, it can even randomize kits to an endless array of totally unusable but oh so “wild” sounds all over the places…
can u imagine…how cool is that…now u can get lost right from the start and after a few hours of “working” u can call it a day without even creating a single bar of some sonic sense…yeah, this will change the whole game like nothing else ever did…and don’t get me started, when it comes to aaaaaaaalll it’s never heard of presets…u really gotto try this…nothing will waste ur time that easily in such an exhausting pseudo complexity…
Yeah you kind of do… I think you’ve made your point already, it’s totally fine if you want to move on ![]()
on offer at ADSR now:
Just used this from the UK, thanks!
Here’s a demo beat for you. Challenged myself to only use synthesis, some of the sounds are tweaked presets and some are from scratch, including the “open hi-hat” ![]()
yeah the undo issue is a known pain point with Live and complex plugins. when a plugin exceeds the 64-parameter limit, Live basically stops tracking state changes through its own undo system - so it’s on the plugin to manage its own history internally if it wants that to work at all. some plugins do implement their own undo stack for exactly that reason, it’s just extra work on the dev side.
been messing around with some basic plugin building myself lately (nothing serious, just experimenting with JUCE) and you quickly realize how much stuff you have to implement yourself that the host just won’t handle for you once you go above a certain complexity. makes you appreciate the well-built ones even more.
Bought it. Made a quick track with it… Good sounding plugin, though I haven’t gone too deeply with it.
Been using Attack since V1. Insta-buy! Still some of the best envelopes in software!
Yeah. You just got the order wrong here. RackAttack was their hardware clone of the Attack VSTi.
…sure?..can’t tell…when i had fun with the hardware “clone”, my computer backend was a small digidesign setup and i was not intrested in any 3rd party plugins at all…i was totally into recording all sorts of “real” instruments and various electronic hw to harddisks…that was more than enough sonic future and endless options for me, back then…
never the less, all i’m saying is…also waldorf is not waldorf anymore and their peak days were the microwaves and the pulsars…
those are truly timeless…best and latest proof might be…pulsar sounds just did quite some heayvy lifting for gesaffelsteins grammy award…he works them quite a lot thoughout all his creations…
Couldn’t find anything about it in the manual but it seems like user samples need to be 16 bit to work.
New Update ![]()
Changes in Version 3.0.1
• New factory kit “ZMIX SDSV” by Chuck Zwicky
• The name of the currently selected Sound is displayed below the Kit name
• Samples can be frequency-modulated (FM)
• Added automation of selection parameters like on/off buttons, oscillator or filter types etc.
• MIDI Maps are now automatically saved with the DAW project. However, it’s still a good idea to save them separately as they then can be used in saved kits as well.
• Loading single Sounds keeps Bus setting and Solo status in Mixer
• Shift+Scroll Wheel allows for finer adjustments on continuous controls
• Scroll Wheel can be used on selection popups such as Oscillator Shape to select entries
• Flanger mix polarity now follows feedback polarity resulting in much nicer flanging
• Loaded samples are selected and shown in the respective sample browser (note that you need to switch to Preset or User manually to show the right browser view)
• Fixed possible silence when previewing samples
• Fixed crash in Reaper on Windows
• Fixed bug in Comb Minus filter type
• Fixed modulation of envelope attack rates by an LFO when the attack rate is at its minimum
• XOR and Single mode voice allocation now click-free
• Further bug fixes and improvements
Waldorf, if you can hear me, i am begging you not to bury a randomize function in a drop-down menu
So Attack 3 is the evolution of a 2000s digital drum synth with FM, VA, and sample playback… Is it kind of a Machinedrum vibe? The preset demos haven’t exactly blown me away, but the tutorial video I watched looked like the sound design potential is super deep.
The launch went under my radar, but it caught my attention just now as it’s on a flash sale at Plugin Alliance for $30 right now.
I can tell you it’s worth the money. But try the demo version.
You can get similar/same results with the Ephonic Drumatic 3 VST. I think this is why Waldorf dropped the price, as it now costs the same as this.
