VST->Digitone->Ableton problem

Hello Elektron family

I am new to this world and bought recently a Digitone 2 to try this gear by myself. I have a maybe a silly question.

I am thinking about setup, where i can use several MIDI channels of device to sequence VST plugins from Ableton -> Write whole song in Digitone with MIDI and Audio channels -> Record it multitrack with Overbridge Engine(once it is released) -> Pull all multitracks into Ableton back to edit them.

I have a problem with using VST with Digitone, since all the videos in YT shows how to control Ableton with device and not showing how to actually have make the MIDI to have audio inside of Digitone, if you understand what i mean. Simply saying, i just want connect headphones to Digitone and hear MIDI channels both with Synth channels and for now Midi channels are only audioble inside computer.

I hope i explained it properly, i think there is maybe some config that i need to change to make it work

Thanks

If i understand you right, i don’t think that’s possible. Midi channels are only sending midi information, and audio coming from vsts you are using are coming from a computer
So you can hear audio only from computer in regards to vsts.
Maybe there is some option to route those sounds back into Digitone… But saying this there is only one stereo input on Digitone so…
This Christmas i did one version where i would use my Digitakt as a audio interface and route it into Ipad, an then back from ipad via usb into Digitakt.
This way i could use midi to play synths on ipad, and have audio back in digitakt over usb

So you used ipad only for one sound on one midi channel. Since you said there is only one stereo input, right? In this case i am thinking if it is possible to route audio from at least one VST instrument to midi channel and what is the way to do it… Anyway, thanks)

So i used AUM on ipad(a mixer/daw like app with as many channels as your dsp/cpu supports).
Then all midi where sent from few Digitakt tracks to synths on ipad, and since ipad can send midi/audio over usb, those synth sounds were routed back into Digitakt Main output/Headphone Output(i had few synths, bass, lead, pad, some Foley, plus send/return effects)
I mean now that i think about it, i think you can use Digitone as a audio interface and do the same like i did with ipad, but with your computer.
Saying this, since you are using Live, and will record all tracks in Live, why do you even want audio from vsts back in Digitone?

Since as i know about Overbridge there is latency when using synth tracks with ableton as a main clock and combining synth tracks and Midi tracks with VST synth, so i am just thinking of the way how to set it up the best way for me)

Actually lol, i figured this out during discussion, you can set up in Ableton Digitone as main output and that way to play MIDI VSTS and Synth tracks with device. Thank you anyway for help, man)

Hm maybe it’s best to go on YouTube and check James Orvis YouTube channel
He has done some cool stuff with connecting Elektron boxes and Live

Heh or that. No problem, have fun
