To celebrate the new Update I decided to embark again in a Syntakt adventure after a long time since the inital release and purchase but in receiving the brand new toy I could not notice the Volume knob being a bit higher than the rest and I don’t know if that is normal as my Digitone 2 does not seems to suffer of such issue. The knob does come off easily and I did try to push it gently but it wont go down far than what it is shown in the photo and to avoid damaging the pot I rather dont force it. Any idea?
i wonder if it’s the wrong pot cap … i think the earlier Elektrons had a different depth of pot-D-notch - they’re not all interchangeable
I know because at some point in time i have carved out teh innards (near the top) of a cap to make it sit right
what i’d suggest is taking off a neighbour encoder cap and see it the relative standoff is similar to below (my pot cap sits a fraction lower than the encoder) if it seems like it’s the wrong part report to Elektron (you could use a depth gauge to compare with the D-section length
you might like to check the ST Pot shaft is appx 3/4 as tall as an encoder(also technically a pot btw) it looks fine in the image, so it’s a surprise it doesn’t fit right - check for bits of excess plastic within the moulded cap
Thanks, I’m always not keen to remove parts as I’m scared todamage the unit somehow but in this case as I know there are many users that did apply different Encoder cap I will proceed as you suggested, eventually I will report to Elektron as long as they do not the machine back ( I don’t think is the case ). Thank you
EDIT: Sorted, indeed there was a Tiny excess of plastic also visible in the photo that prevented t he Encoder cap to fit properly, carefully removed with a Cutter.
