Volca Keys/Rytm - do I only need a MIDI cable?

This is a bit of a super basic question, but I’m still green when it comes to hardware: In order to connect a Volca Keys to the Rytm, is all I need a MIDI cable? Will any do? Those will be the only two machines that are connected (for now, there will eventually be an OT, too).

you can use a midi cable to connect the midi clock, so they will start at the same time, have the same speed and (if it’s on a volca) you can change the program at the same time.

If you want to, you can send the sound from the volca to the Rytm. Then you can use the compressor of the Rytm (and maybe also the distortion, I am not sure) for the sound of the Volca.

If I remember correctly the input does not pass the distortion. Also there is something with the gain of the input which make it quite low, especially with battery gear like volca so I have it go straight to the input of my audio interface.

I use a volca beats midi slaved by the rytm. Works like a charm.
