Volca Beats Midi Link

I would love to be able to trigger my volca beats from the play button of the octatrack. I’ve set a midi Channel to 10 (what I hear is the beats factory default midi channel). Made sure the Beats’ midi in is set to auto. connected cables. Set up the Octatrack to send clock.

They do not sync, not the tempo even much less the play button.

Am I missing anything? While I’ve always loved the language of sound Midi has always been a struggle for me.

Do you know how to sync the tempo and playbutton (and maybe everything else) in the volca beats to the octatrack?

Try ticking the “Send Transpose”, or “send transp”. something like that.
I believe its on the same page as “send clock”.

edit: though it sounds strange that it doesnt sync…
Try changing midi channel on the beats.
This is how you do it on bass, maybe its the same?

Midi chan of the Beats does not matter, nor the fact if you have dedicated Midi tracks set to that channel or not.

I’m guessing the issue is that the Beats is set to work with internal sync only. Power it up holding the Memory button. LED 6 should be unlit if this is the case. Press the corresponding button to light it, press REC to save the change and off you go.

on the volca - Midi sync is set to auto, midi channel is ten

on the octatrack midi is set to send transpose, send clock and send program ch on ch 10

nothing is synced still

double checked midi out on the octatrack is going to midi in on the volca.

Then I’m guessing faulty MIDI cable, can you check if it works on other gear?

Well it looks like you were right,

I bought and tested a new midi cable and it worked, Unfortunate because the old one’s hardly seen any life at all but so it is.
