worth noting: he appears to be putting them all in the same spot in his studio. which implies he’s getting them out of storage for the video. which implies he generally doesn’t switch them on and use them frequently. in my experience, vintage synths hate this. switching them on frequently and using them seems to be far better than having them in storage. this may account for some of the issues he’s having. or it could just be that most of his stuff was purchased fully working, or broken and fixed to get there, and then never subsequently serviced.
he also doesn’t talk about the unique sound of his particular instruments much at all.
