Vintage Drum Machines pack vs?

Looking to do some 80’s inspired tracks. I’m wondering if the Vintage Drum Machines pack will be enough or if I should look at other sample libraries.

All those vintage drum machine samples are available online for free as well, but the only thing is they’re raw samples so expect to do lots of processing yourself to make them sound crusty and punchy. Goldbaby have some sample packs where they’ve already been run through tape and compression if you want to save some work. For 80s vibe check out Oberheim DMX and Linndrum.

From what I understand of the DMX it was samples through an analog filter so I’m wondering if I can shape the sound via the AR to get that extra juice. I think I’m interested in raw samples as I do not want to process a processed sound. Having said that perhaps having a sample through tape would be nice.

For tape saturated drum samples check out https://samplesfrommars.com They also have a bunch of free packs to check out the quality.

(Disclaimer: I’m not affiliated with these guys  )

I agree on the ‘that sound’ guys, beautiful samples.

Unfortunately, most are high quality stereo files, and the RYTM / digitakt handles 16 bit mono files.

I also noticed when transferring them to Digitakt, the samples fromt ‘thatsound’ sound lower in volume compared to my other packs.

Does anyone know why? and how to fix it?

Can’t help you with that, sorry, I am using the OT, everything’s fine there.

But the samples have that high compressed master feeling, maybe it has something to do with the levels. E.g. the kicks are really loud

Hope you can solve it!

Gold Baby Ghetto Drum Samplers is new and amazing…grab and rinse it before everyone else on the planet does : )
