various… the TBCs can be controlled over serial (MIDI) to do some interesting things. Don’t have the Panasonic MX anymore, which is too bad.

Oh man!!
You’ve got all kinds of cool stuff there!
That se/2 looks so nice.
I sold my MX to a friend and occasionally regret it, although I still have the AVE7.
What kind of stuff are you talking about with the TBC’s and MIDI?
So cool to see other video weirdos here.
I haven’t seen a NeXTstation in many years! Are you actually putting it to use in your setup?
I’ve been going deep into video lately! I’m playing a live set Nov 18th and want to do visuals for the whole set.
I use cheap video gear. I have a cha/ves video synth, three VCRs, an iPad with some adapters to go to VGA and then composite, an old Panasonic video mixer and an edirol V4. My creation technique is to run some sources into the Panasonic, mix with video feedback, capture to VHS or DSLR capture my little TV. Then for performance I’m going to use VDMX. My SP404 is the last audio unit in chain so one USBC cable from that to my laptop and I have audio and midi available to control the video.
I also use Processing to generate some visuals, and am learning touchdesigner. There’s a course from Lynda.com that I get for free with my library card
Lumen looks interesting
Here is some of my old stuff:
Lush!!
I was using SynthBuilder and even was able to play it a bit over the serial port MIDI from a QY100 ![]()
But it’s not super stable to use that so it’s not actively part of the setup, no.
Well, it’s cheap and a fun way to do visuals live. I like it
I like to midi-map parametres from my DT, and that works like a dream.
Beautiful stuff!
Thank you so much!!
For anyone shooting video, I would highly recommend Neat Video for removing noise caused by bad lighting or challenging shooting conditions while possibly being too stoned to make proper camera adjustments.
It’s incredible, almost like magic and the home version is cheap.
This app completely changes the quality of the material I’m working on and would likely do the same for any filmmaker.
I bought it yesterday and cannot believe how good it is.
For people looking for glitchproof video mixers:
Roland V4 EX!
This works REALLY great! In some rare case blue screen with Structure being glitched by CBV01 alone in extreme settings.
No bluescreen at all in combination with CBV01 and 02 in combination - even in the hardest settings. Upscaling via HDMI works flawlessly.
This mixer seems to be the master of all traits (analog and HDMI, great TBC, cool feedback FX, preview screen, super built quality and a small form factor)
I made this short music video in Davince Resolve from a recent iPhone camera recording. Absolutely amazing program and I can’t believe it’s free. I’m probably going to buy the studio version just to get the extra features. I have also recently completed a music video with some trippy visuals made in Resolume but I can’t show it yet.
Very nice!!
The studio version is awesome. A friend of mine got that some time ago.
Even though I already have FCP I’m considering getting that too.
Thanks Strutter! I’m glad to see you like it.
I’m so happy to have found a video editor that I really like and this one is quite something. The features are really impressive and I haven’t even gotten into the Fusion node section yet. And I absolutely love that there’s an entire Audio editing section (Fairlight) where you can edit and treat your audio tracks without having to go to your daw. I have been using Lumafusion on iPad for some years and this is of course a huge step up with a M2 MacBook Pro.
From what I’ve understood mainly from observing my friends use of the SW the node stuff is where all the magic happens and thats what sets it apart from most other softwares.
Didn’t know about the audio editor section being that good. This makes me wanna go for it even more.
I’m starting to do connect the dots of jitter and really glad I took the plunge, will use this patch for my next recording fo sho. it’s also so easy to map everything to the EC4 too I can suddenly very easy to control stuff.
Maybe those in this thread would be interested in my new iOS video synth. I posted about it here:
