Very weird issue - Silent presets (likely solved)

Hi

I haven’t used my AK in about 3 month now (yes poor thing I know).

Today I finally lit it up again, looking forward to hear its song.

But something very weird is happening.

Some presets are not making any sound.

I have checked everything ;

  • it’s not track dependent
  • every track is sent to master and FX
  • all voices work (I have tried a working preset and set all voices on in Poly)
  • I’m not in multi-mode
  • I have erased every entry from multi-mode just in case (but it’s not on !)
  • there’s nothing else than my headphones plugged in
  • it’s either sound or no sound even from factory presets !
  • neither keyboard or sequencer triggers notes / makes sound
  • I have tried to randomize parameters on a silent preset but it doesn’t change anything
  • I did turn it on and off again multiple times
  • for example the 3 first factory presets don’t produce sound
  • either in preview mode or loaded those presets don’t produce sound

What the heck ?!

I would try a factory reset but before that does anyone have an idea or had a similar issue ?

EDIT : sooo even more weird, I changed project and it solved the issue, but why ?!

not that weird, that (and try test mode) would’ve been my first suggestion

there are a number of ways to affect sound output, too many to go through at the mo, but for peace of mind always try starting afresh - another possibility, though less common on analogs compared to say OT is to consider that a corruption could’ve taken place

a new project sorts most issues like this so the user can go back to teh source issue and investigate all the options. performance macros, etc etc

people resort to factory and empty resets for all the wrong reasons normally and just because the issues goes away it gets believed to be the solution, but a new project is the simplest acid test

also disconnect the machine from everything (check, you did), set it to all the regular default modes and just go through all the options, channels. settings and modulators and macros etc and see if you can pinpoint it

had a similar problem last week, about 14 patterns in a project that seemed to be silent on playback. couldn’t work out what was wrong, started to freak out I’d saved the project wrong and lost everything. Turned out I had transpose on somehow, and everything was many octaves too low lol

(not saying this is what caused your problem at all, but something to look out for!)
