Velocity to Sample Start with 120 sample chain

I’ve been setting up different chains for my Rytm like 120 different kicks, snares etc. It’s all worked fantastic until now. I have licensed some acoustic drum libraries I really like that have tons of samples mapped by both velocity and round robins so that got me thinking, why not render out a 120 sample chain of, for example, a snare so I could enjoy that same quality on the Rytm. I was worried that the file would be huge, and they are not small haha, but at 8-9mb that’s something I could live with.

The chains I created work perfectly when manually setting Sample Start but when I map Velocity to Sample Start, there is literally no value for Depth that works (not 119, 120, 127 - nothing).

Is this a bug? Working as intended? I’m pretty disappointed :frowning:

So is nothing happening? Or are the value jumps not great/ as expected? can you check if you mapped it correctly with another parameter?

The sample starts are not correct, it’s starting off the ‘120 chain’ boundaries, almost like it’s become fractional.

Ok, I guess that is somewhat expected, as velocity has 128 values and the sample slot has 120, so matching that exactly will most likely not be possible…

I finally got this working, but with a 128 sample chain

  • Make 128 sample chain (include some silence after each sample for easier enveloping)
  • On the Sample Page, set Start to 0
  • On the Sample Page, set End to 1
  • On the Velocity mod page set to Sample Start at 120 & Sample End at 120
  • Cut off the end using the Amp envelope. The slice is 6.667% too large since we are choosing 1/120th of a 128 sample chain, so you need to control this with the amp envelope. I have been setting Decay to zero and Hold so it cuts off right after the sample slice ends
