Values for : Kick = BD = dry umpf

hi folks, january 1st, why not seize the day and share that I just made a pretty staisfying kick bd thumby sound on my MM …

here are the settings:

temp:132
trigs : 1 3 6 9 12 14

trig octave 1

track 1 note: C2 (octave 2)
GND SIN
synthesis: tune 0
amp: atk 0
hold 0
dec 85
rel 90

dist 8
vol 65
pan 0
port 0

filter
base 0
width 9
HPQ 22
LPQ 7 (go up to 35 and enjoy the change! )

(also plocking (trig 9) this value to 100 will give a nice artifact :stuck_out_tongue: reduce filter DECAY for that trig to 0 and amp dec to 64 , also amp dist to 0.AND AMP VOL to 45…, (PLUS filer atk=16 ) plus effects EQG = 25 (but go back to amp and decrease vol for this trig to35)

atk 9 ( observe changes 0 - 35 !!! )
dec 25 (if you want to use this as a sub - base increase dec and atk to 35 )
bofs -22
WOFS 49

Effects:

EQF 9
EQG 0
SRR 0

DTIM 64

DSND 8 (plock individual trig to 35 for a REAL nice beat rythm variation !!! (try trig 3 !!! )

Hey thanks for this post - I just got a Monomachine and I’ve been trying to program a decent kick. Great timing! Happy New Year!

if you have followed the 2 previous steps… here is a real nice game boy level up effect, I discoverd by accident! …

first copy track 1 to track 2 (red light on, fn + copy , paste into track 2)

decrease track 2 volume to 75 % …

page: filt
dest base
trig free
wave rmp

mult
1x
spd 15
intl 50
dpth 50

… keep it running for a while, this is only a 1 bar loop , but the lfo 2 will kick in eventually… i think it sounds dope !

Brilliant! That was really unexpectedly Gameboy.

I learned a lot following these settings - thanks again for posting.

glad you enjoyed it ! … I had the same reaction to the Gameboy, and was like, woohayyaaa level up …
more will come! …

Ah, can’t wait for my Monomachine to arrive now…!

Also wanna say that I like the way of listing out the parameters of a preset as you have (noticed some of the A4 parameter photos in another thread as well).

I think it works really well because it gives a great understanding of how to craft diverse sounds from scratch. Too often, I’ve just uploaded a few banks of presets and aimlessly leafed through them, usually with little regard for just how much effort went into making them!

This reminds me of making preset sheets for equipment that has no internal way of storing/switching presets. May take a little more time, but there’s no denying that it makes the whole process more hands-on!

+1 for sharing sounds this way.

Spooky, I hopped on to elektronauts to see how to get a more reliable click for a kick drum. And this thread is the top thread…

x-files…

This is ace! Just started using my MnM as a percussion tool and a good sine kick was eluding me.

I love obviously synthetic drum sounds so I often use filtered noise for hats and snares. I’d been layering with a Volca Beats, specifically for the kick and a short snare to bolster the MnM’s noise snares. In many ways I prefer the extra synthesis offered by the MnM to the dedicated machines of the MD. It feels somehow more creative.

Anyway, I know this is a bit of a thread necro, but thanks to TrabanT for the initial post.

Anyone else getting some creative percussion out of the MnM?

I was reading through the forum today and thought "wow, look at that thread headline, that totally something I would do ! … "-

was very surprised to read my post from 9 month ago! … I dont own a MM anymore… B U T … my fucking spirit seems to live on in here !!! muhahahhahahaha

Why did you sell it?

I want(ed) immediacy … that sums it up pretty much I assume… also I am really not the best in terms of substractive synthesis (started hardware prox 3 years ago…), not to mention FM … and all the menu diving …

didnt spend nearly as much time required to understand the possibilites of MM and then chickened out :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve almost sold mine twice but then another part of it opens up to me and I find it inspiring again.

The percussion I’m getting out of it now is dangerously close to making my MDUW redundant, or at least for the majority of sounds I tend to use. Tempted to synthesise stuff on the MnM and use an MPC 1000 for more conventional sampled sounds.

I almost traded my MDUW recently for the same reason. I often prefer to create my drum sounds on the MNM instead of the MD, and the MPC 1000 is in many ways a better drum sequencer.
But then the trade fell through, I decided to devote some more attention to the MDUW…no way. Gotta keep them all :joy:

How can one sell the MnM? It is so flexible and versatile. The only reason I would sell mine is if they release a new version with Overbridge. Having individual outputs over a usb interface would be great.
