Hi everyone!.
Could I change my active track on the A4 using an external MIDI Keyboard (Akai Advance)???.
I’m configuring different MIDI CC messages to control basic parameters of the synth, and perform some melodies from my MIDI keyboard, but I don’t find a solution to do what I asked before…
Thanks!!
That’s not possible
.
but you can obviously remotely target specific tracks
Thanks for the answer man
But how could I do that without using a DAW?. I think you are talking about changing my active channel on my MIDI Controller, sure?.
Cheers!
That’s what I meant, there’s no way to remotely simulate the Track selection that I know of, so if you wanted the encoders to work on track x, you gotta select track x first - there’s a tie in when using OB, but I think the plugin just mimics the device selection (ie not both ways, so there’s not even a potential path) … not sure I follow the requirement, so I may be missing the point here !

it’s possible, but not with standard midi messages.
You can use the project settings sysex to select tracks etc.
it is pretty arcane stuff, do you love bits and bytes and hex editors and programming? If not, this probably isn’t for you…

I was also gonna say that if anyone can, void can
Hello all,
I’m going to play my A4 from a MIDI keyboard live into the AUTO channel, but need the laptop to switch between tracks for me. I do this on the Octatrack so was relying on the A4 having this function also but can’t find reference to it in the manual or release notes.
Anyone know if this has got a secret CC already assigned to it that’s not documented?
Track up & track down would do. A CC to activate a specific track would be better. Thanks!

Try the search, it keeps the forum easier to search for useful info if we don’t duplicate threads
answer above
@avantronica I searched. This thread didn’t come up.
Looks like there’s a way via Sysex then. I’m up for this. @void could you please expand? If I can’t get this to work A4’s a gonner.

It’s not a formal or hidden sysex string in the way you might do a parameter change on a Roland. It’s a hacky two way thing … you’d possibly need to interrogate / read / substitute / resubmit on a computer program if it’s analogous to editing a chunk of data like a sound/kit without using nrpn … it may be that the area where the current track info resides is a smaller data set … not tried that, void has worked it all out by reverse engineering data

sorry I don’t even have the A4 anymore… can’t give you proper guidance…
Thanks.
Yeah I gathered it’s not a thing i could send out if logic. Was thinking I could make an Arduino respond to a CC, and squirt out a few bytes over serial to the A4. @void is that the right kind of idea?
