Using Digitone as sound module only

Thank you this did the trick !

I use the DN like this too, and found that simply setting the autochannel to OFF was the easiest.

I use a external keyboard to play the Digi. When selecting sounds, i’d like to preview the sound WHILE i navigating, without the need to click ‘YES’ to load the new sound ; i’d like to when i click the arrow down, for instance, the sound active on cursor automatically loads. Is this possible ?

It’s already this way, for somehow when i’m navigating sounds, nothing changes until i click ‘Yes’…

Hi,
Do you want to preview sounds without changing from the preview presets window?
Did you tried Function+yes?
If you want just to load sound without clicking ‘yes’…well, you need a ‘yes’ to load. It is like this. But with function before ‘yes’ you can load the sound and stay on the same presets window…
I hope i make it understandable…

I use it this way also I just need to figure out how to have trigs on DN also working so I can use sound locks.

Thank you, Fn + Yes helps, at least can preview the sound without closing the sounds window. Would be perfect if just moving with the arrows did the job.

I just got an OT to pair with my DN. These are both my first electronic instruments. I’m curious to hear why you’d opt to use the OT sequencer over the DN?

A little unrelated to this specific topic, but I’m also still trying to figure out when to sample the DN vs using the midi tracks. How do you all decide this?

For me it’s just easier to sequence everything in the same place. But both sequencers have the same features, whatever you choose you are covered

I thought you’d lose some of the features of the DN by doing that like p-locking delay on specifics trigs, but I just learned that’s what the CC menu is for via Kenny Zhao’s latest video:

I’ve noticed a weird behaviour on my DT. I always let the Master > In L and In R on the volume 70, because i use the DT also as a FX processor for external synths. What happens is, even with the volume on 70, sometimes i hear no sound on the inputs when a new pattern starts. I need to manually turn the In volume knob a bit, and only by doing this, i can hear the external synth input. What can i do to avoid this ? I want the inputs to be open ALL the time.

This issue with the input keeps popping up every now and then on here for some users. I own two digitones and I have never had this issue nor the issue of the effects not working without a track playing a sound first. I keep my inputs set to 50 which is what I believe to be unity. My inputs and input effects work all the time, everytime.

By the way, every new pattern i create, i need to move the inputs volume to 70 again. Is there a way to every pattern i create, the default volume of the inputs volume keeps to 70 ?

It’s happening quite often with me and i’m afraid i can’t use the inputs , they are not trustable with this bug. The external sound simply won’t play until i touch the Digi’s volume knob :frowning:

Any hints ?

I would absolutely love it if the DN (or A4) could be used as a pure sound module as @disco described. I often take advantage of the OT’s midi arp to sequence the DN (as well as other synths) but there’s no way to tell the DN which specific patch to play, whether it’s from the sound pool or sound banks. Sure, you can have a blank pattern on the DN, but that means if you want to come back and work on the track later you need a system for coordinating patterns/banks/projects between the two machines.
Even though you lose out on sound locks by sequencing externally, I think you gain a lot by being able to perform from a central hub - the OT in this case. I can’t speak for everyone but I definitely make more dynamic tracks when I’m focused on just one elektron box at a time.
Does anyone know if there’s a technical reason behind this limitation? Maybe it’s just not a development priority?

+1
Is there any way to remotely switch sounds ???
There is surprisingly no Sysex section in the manual.

Not individual sounds. Like all current Elektron instruments with a sequencer.

Thanks.
This is so disappointing.
Sending a feature request.

Out of curiosity, I can’t remember if it’s something Overbridge would take care of. (I would use Ableton Live mainly I guess).
