If I’m not using any panning effects in my compositions, is there any real benefit to plug both main outputs into my mixer? or maybe it doesn’t matter, as theoretically the signal should be the same in both outs, if nothing is affecting panning?
With no panning or FX, exactly the same signal is piped out the right and left. If you want to save mixer/soundcard inputs, I would pan everything hard left (or right) otherwise there is no issue using both the left and right outputs for mono and for those times when you want to add some stereo reverb to your hats etc.

Thanks for replying! One thing I don’t get though - if without panning the signal is the same, why would you pan everything hard left or right?
Actually I never tried to see if it was the same gain on the left when panned centre or hard left, but just felt it should be that way for some reason. It might be completely unnecessary. Best thing to do is to test it for yourself. See if it’s the same volume regardless.
Yup that’s exactly what I had in mind asking that question, I felt that for whatever reason if it was centred, but I used only one out, it would be “thinner”. I’ll check it when I get to my gear.

If you are using the synth drum voices with no stereo FX it shouldn’t matter. You might get more signal with hard panning? I don’t think you will really lose or gain anything from the hard panning approach. If the AR uses stereo samples and you are using those samples in your patches that could affect things if there is actually stereo information in the samples.
AR sample engine is mono, so that shouldn’t affect anything
