Using A4 MK2 as midi controller

So I have my A4 running smoothly in Ableton using overbridge. A really useful thing would be to put the A4 into a ‘midi mode’ so that I could use the encoders to control Ableton. Is something like this possible?

Yes knobs can send midi CCs or NRPN (default).
I don’t use Ableton and I can’t tell you how to assign them.
You’d want to use knobs in a page you usually don’t use, or CV track for example.

you should be able to either manually or using MIDI learn assign the MIDI CCs to the parameters you want to control within Live

Make sure the encoders send cc (Project Menu -> Port Config -> Param Output cc).
Go to Live’s Preferences, in the midi tab activate ‘Track’ and ‘Remote’ for the midi in port your A4 mk2 is connected to.

Then just go to midi mapping in Ableton Live (button on the upper right of the screen, or press CTRL + M/⌘ + M), click on a knob, fader or button in Live and move the encoder on the A4 mk2 you want to assign.
If a plugin doesn’t show it’s available parameters when you press the little arrow, press ‘Configure’ and move all Plugin’s knobs etc.

You can also use the midi learn function of a plugin.
