What books would you recommend to read if you want to improve your electronic music chops?

Unlocking the Groove

Anything else worth reading?

I just received this one, but haven’t started reading yet (need to finish that Lonely Planet biography I’m reading now first - great book!)

I was really impressed with the online chapters.
My copy arrived the other day, and it is great. Aesthetically a very pleasing book too.
Managed to find a brand new copy of Curtis Road’s Microsound a couple of weeks ago. Very much looking forward to getting stuck into that.
Definitely recommend Unlocking the Groove.
Also, not about music, but Sonic Wonderland: A Scientific Odyssey of Sound by Trevor Cox is a lovely book about a career in field recording.

Uhm, mine is a weird one.

When I used to have an iPad in the Newsstand you can find Computer Music and Future Music magazines. They have free issues available in these issues there is some nice guides that go over a lot of genres.

IMO, those magazine articles usually just cover the very basics and don’t go very deep. There’s of course an occasional useful trick here and there, but for people who’ve made music for a long time (like myself) the information is already well known.

While not a book, I love the “Synth Secrets” series in Sound On Sound. An excellent read for getting better at making synth patches.
