Use same FX/compressor settings as presets project

Hi Guys!

fairly new to the rytm, read the manual, and understand how to copy a kit, and a track/sound, and even how to copy entire projects.

What I would like to do, is start a new project.
Then I would like to make my own sound (e.g. a kick, synth+sample).
However, there are some demo patterns in the preset pattern that I like in terms of the FX settings and compressor setting. Is there a way (and what is the easiest) to transfer/copy only these settings to my new project/pattern?

Thank you!

I’m also curious what other people have to say.

I would say (from my understanding), the only way is to make a project with your favorite settings (I think you’d either need to copy/paste page from project to project or note them down and do it by hand) and treat the project as a template.

It would be nice if there were an easier way…

You can copy a FX parameter page from a project and paste it to another project. But if there are several pages it’ becomes quickly tedious.

Another way is to export a kit sysex and import it to your new project. You have to work wit c6 for this (pay attention to you midi port config, in/out usb only et no OB in USB config).

Above trick to save a project as template is a good idea, once you get everything you need in a project.

What I do, personally, is to study the parameters I like most, so that I understand what is going on.
It makes recreating what I like easier, and make all the (more or less tedious) manipulations I described useless.

How about writing down the settings on a piece of paper, of even taking smartphone photos, and copying over?

(Reminds me of the time I asked Elektron for nameable line entries in MD song mode to keep track of things in a live set. They answered a piece of paper is still a very useful thing for this )

Feature request : Copy/Paste more than 1 page.

Couldn’t you just copy the kit and paste it into the new project and delete the elements from the kit that you don’t want?
You can copy a kit between projects by opening the kit menu (where you save the kits - cant remember the elektron name for this) and then just hit func+copy when you have highlighted the kit you want. Then just load your current project, open the kit menu and paste into a blank slot.

interesting, if you copy a kit, does it also copy all the master compressor / FX settings with it?

5.2.2 KITS
A kit is a collection of twelve drum track Sounds and the FX track parameter settings. When editing atrack, changes made to the parameter settings will be stored in the active kit. Each project of the Analog Rytm contains 128 individual kits. A pattern always links to one of the kits. Read more in the section “10. KITS AND SOUNDS” on page 27.

yes, but isnt this the FX page of the tracksounds, and something else than the global parameters (for e.g. compressor?)

The compressor resides with the FX and is saved with the kit. It needs to be saved on a kit level or you would end up having to adjust the compressor settings when changing between kits that were quite sonically different.

edit: It does call the compressor global in the manual but I think that they may be referring to the compressor affecting the external inputs as well as the tracks.
