A nice trick, I am really happy with, I learned from a guy working with mastering. When creating a track, start by setting the volume of the kick to -6dB max, set the bass to -8dB max, then balance and ajust the rest of the sounds from that basis. It will sound better and make the mastering easier.

these are my favorite two!

as for my 2 cents, i would say that it’s important to always have some patches/kits ready for you to begin composing with. so, in other words, try to have some nice building blocks to start composing with so you don’t lose focus before you even begin.

in the elektron boxes, i think separating sound design and composition can be a massive help, at least in the beginning. it blurs together later on once your machine is full of sounds/kits you have thoughtfully crafted, but trying to compose with lame sounds can really kill an inspired state of mind.
