Understanding chains

I’m trying to understand chains. I am able to create a chain (enable chain mode, hit a bank and then 2 or more patterns), but during a performance, I wanted to create a new chain.

Pressing fn+chain should create a new empty one, but also resets the sequencer to step 1. So what is the intended use of chains during a performance? As it seems to me now, we can only have 1 chain, plus the ability to turn it off and on.

i may be mistaken (while since i tried), but the resetting to 1 seems like a new (fairly unworkable) aspect !! i’m sure it seemed more live performance friendly before ! … anyone using this more regularly concur ?

you can of course create chains on the fly by selecting two trigs (at pattern select) and pressing chain - maybe this was the smooth way i recalled - seems okay on reflection !
