Yes you can do that . Through the mod matrix. I no longer have the synth but i did create patches with bass left/pad right
Has anyone had any luck getting the Synthtribe librarian to work on Mac? When I open it, I can see the full list of factory patches, but I have no way to insert my own SYSEX files. Nothing happens when I drag them into the Librarian. Is this a bug, or am I just not getting it? The only available buttons are “save” and “return.”
Guitar Center in Atlanta had two brand new keyboards on clearance for $850 and I picked one up. Not sure it’s a keeper. The Astrolab37 does the sound just as well… I love real analog but I think it’s kind of silly to have this be my sole analog poly when I have the sounds on the 37 in my backpack with my mpc wherever I go.
so the question is now, what is “real analog” and is it still sounding better than the state-of-the-art digital versions? If i’m reading you correctly, you cannot hear a significant difference between the analog and digital version?
(NB don’t want get into a flamewar or analog vs digital discussion, just wondering about your personal opinion after comparing the arturia vs UB-Xa versions. I also read this more and more about f.e. Roland TR-style drumcomputers where people say "just get a TR8 or TR8s because it sounds just as good as a behringer TR8 or TR9, and i think the more “democratic” pricing has to do with removing the myth of the OG analog sounds somewhat)
I don’t there there is a generic answer to ‘analogue vs digital’, its very much dependent on the gear/software being listened to, how its being recorded and monitored and the ears of the listener! There ‘analogue’ synths offer hands on controls with real time feedback and are undoubtedly ‘authentic’. That doesn’t mean they necessarily sound better when recorded (they often need more effort mixing and when that’s done, the difference with a VST is minimal).
That said, I can definitely hear the difference through studio monitors before its mixed. I did upgrade from a TR8S (and have Roland 808/909 VST) to a TR-1000 and can definitely tell the difference particularly with the low end…but again, in a mix, not so sure any once would notice or care - I preferred the hands TR8 on to the VST (but couldn’t hear any difference in sound monitored or recorded) and prefer the hands on and the overall sound of the TR-1000…but that comes at a hell of a cost compared to the VST 808/909 (and I would correlate this to all modelled analogue Vs real analogue) its a case of ‘want’ rather than ‘need’ for most people…I just like owning the gear rather than having it ‘virtually’, simple as that!
I have used the UB-xa for no more than 10 minute, but it was enough to see that it sound really good and warm.
I believe today it’s more the general User Interface quality which matter.
