Hello,

I’m sequencing the Typhon Dreadbox from the Digitakt and it’s great, I use Midi G on channel 10. I have to select the sound I want on the Dreadbox which is fine, but I’ve just setup up Midi H on channel 10 for a difference sequence on the Dreadbox, but I need it to be a different sound, I’m guessing there is no way the Digitakt can be programed to choose the right sound rather than me manually changing it on the Dreadbox?

I have a tune that using the Dreadbox, but has to 2 sequences (separate as you can’t play 2 at the same time I think), but bot use different sounds.

Thanks

On DT you can set different bank/subbank/program per midi track, even if these are 2 midi tracks (g/h for you).
And more fun : you can assign different sound per step on the same midi channel !

Are you saying I can do this with the Typhon Dreadbox from the Digitakt?

So use different sounds on the Dreadbox at the same time being sequenced from the Digitakt?

(In don’t own a DT, but checked the online manual). Seach for “program change” in the manual and you’ll fund a few sections were they describe where to do this.

Typhon is monotimbral so you cannot play 2 different sounds simultaneously.
But you can set a midi track to play one Typhon sound and another midi track to play another Typhon sound.
But don’t play these 2 midi tracks simultaneously, it can just be a way to play 2 different sequences ALTERNATIVELY on one pattern

Or playing ALTERNATIVELY 2 Typhon sounds on 1 midi track using p-lock on midi program change

Thanks, that is great, but the part I don’t understand how to do is get the DT to select the 2 different patches/sounds on the Dreadbox.

For the MIDI track that you are using, select the SRC page and enter a value for the PROG (program change) parameter (manual, page 49).

That’s it.
Spend also some time reading manual and experimenting to understand differences between banks/sub-banks/program on midi track’s SRC page.
It can be tricky first times, but once you get that, it opens a lot of possibilities to sequence midi.

Thanks I’ll have a read up on this as this will be quite powerful.

I’ll have a read thanks! I wasn’t aware you could do this and get the DT to control what patch to play per step.

This is a wonderful feature ! Depending on which synth you use, if you change patch per step too fast it may not be effective everytime.
But I found Typhon answers pretty well to program change per step.

So just to confirm (I will read page 49 tonight):

  1. So I can change the patch per step on the same Midi button, in my case Midi G which is set to channel 10?

  2. Another way I could use track Midi G on pattern 1 using a certain sequence and patch from the Dreadbox and then on pattern 2 on Midi G I could use another patch from the Dreadbox and use my other sequence. I just need to look at page 49 and see how I can get the DT to select the patch/sound on the Dreadbox?

That’s it

Nice, damn the Dreadbox and DT just gets better! I’m new to all this as you can probably tell
