Alex did make the Therapsid open source, and it took the device to new heights through contributions. @ThomasJ made some big ones, like making it possible to stream ASID… very impressive stuff :smiley:

I also believe the MEGAfm is open source as well, so who knows what will happen in the future. But I’m very excited to see the FlexFM!

That’s awesome, thank you for sharing this history. Twisted Electrons seems like a respected operation.

I believe the future of hardware grooveboxes is in open source firmware and vibe coded customization, but we’ll have to see

Difficult to say.
In the Superbooth 2026-demos the FlexFM looked like it’s more of a rhythm-master, but the currently available pseudo-spec-sheets (e.g. Twisted Electrons FlexFM – Analog/hybrid synth) sound like it’s more than just rhythm.
Anyway, both would be great <3

Figured I’d go the DN2 because it’s available now :slightly_smiling_face: but I’ll keep watching this one.

DN2 is staying tho. My DN1 one will be going for sale and it’s probably my favourite synth I’ve owned so DN2 was a logical step up

I was thinking the same. Since I was eyeing the MegaFM and I just discovered this, I was wondering if FFM could be a substitute of the MFM.

Really tempted because of, amongst other things, the ported Mutable Instruments multimode filters (more tempting than twisftm for me) - but also just put preorder money down for an Xpander clone, so… so, maybe later rather than right away, but this promises to be a heck of a groovebox/synth!
