got one last night as a portable perkons for travelling - hope to coax some gentle funkier sounds out of it

I love it but I’m not sure it really compares with the Perkons.
It’s much more on the chiptune side, I would say.

hoping to get some jams while I am away - the interface looks similar and sound wise I will be going for short percussive hits and bells tones so not trying to compete sonically with my perkons but hoping the interface is as easy to use

it arrived today and superficially looks perfect next to the perkons - love!
sound wise the chip is pure nostalgia for me and I will learn the saving protocols asap as there’s already a lost session!!!

Idk what exactly caused the flagging and how many flags are necessary or considered „the community“ in order to trigger the automatism. Anyway, no harm meant, and what I did was quoting old post that was not flagged back then and would add meaning to current question/discussion (recombination).

so i will keep and be patient - its a great unique sounding box - maybe if i filter the midi stream to just start stop it will behave better and then i can play with less freezes and firmware problems
FWIW, I’ve never had it freeze on me. What machine is sending midi clock? Do you have the ability to send it analog clock and if so, have you tried it instead of midi?

i am using it with perkons and have not had a huge amount of stability!!!
not tried any other clocking options but perkons has a dedicated analog 6.3mm jack socket providing a +5V trigger/clock signal
Mine has always been clocked either via midi from an Elektron box (OT/ST/DT) or CV from a DFAM. If I had a Perkons I would try and replicate but sadly I do not

its gone back now so no more old vibey fm tones - hang on i have a roland sh4d that does everything!
And you can use furnace tracker if it is just about the sound. The chip emulation is stunningly good.

Fixed the last selected song not being restored after reboot.

Fixed VGM Jukebox playback of compressed .vgz files. Some files could start, hold the first note, and fail to advance because gzip streams were not keeping the required decompression history.
Improved OPL2/YM3812 VGM compatibility when playing through the YMF262/OPL3 chip.
VGM Jukebox mode now supports .vgm and .vgz files directly for supported OPL/OPL2/OPL3 streams.
Optimized the timer ISR by fixing the vibrato/tremolo reciprocal cache so unchanged LFO settings no longer redo expensive division every tick.

Oh wow, Alex implemented OPL2 vgm compatibility? That would be so awesome (most Soundblaster DOS games vgm is OPL2).
