Twisted Electrons Blastbeats

Long time without using it, I’m happy that this thread is still alive. I treat my BB almost like an analog synth because I know that sound will change if I move things. But sounds great and never get rid of it.

Yeah, the manual suggests this-

Save Mode

  • Save Song (patterns)
The SD card can be updated to save the current song to any location within a
designated range of folders and locations. You can choose a different
destination folder within the range of 1 to 10 by pressing any top10 button, and
confirm the location within the range of 1 to 16 by pressing any bottom 16
button. The current folder and location are lit when you enter save mode.
It is important to note that Blast Beats will only write to the SD card when the
sequencer is stopped. If the sequencer is running, it will wait until the next
instance that it is stopped (by pressing “run”) to save any updates to the SD card.

  • Save kits (sounds)
Press the flashing kit/patt button to save the kits. This will not save your patterns!

One other note from troubleshooting in the manual-

Problem: I’m unable to save my patterns or kits.
Solution: Try formatting your SD card to FAT32 and then copy the factory
presets back onto it. This has resolved issues in the past when data corruption
was preventing patterns and kits from being saved.

That looks strange.

Other things to check.

  • Mute status
  • Probability level of your tracks (should be max to hear every step)
  • Solo status (maybe you have a silent track with Solo enabled?)
  • AND, last oddity but not the least: when you turn the machine on, the so-called Step-Stutter is ON by default. Always. If you recorded Stutter automation - intentionally or not - your pattern will be messed up. To activate/deactivate the Step Stutter: Function + Stutter.
(To enter the Step Stutter sequencer line: Step + Stutter)

I don’t think its any of those. Turn BB off, then on, no sound. Turn back off then on, Sound. It does this all the time.

Did you change the routing (without saving it) by any chance?

Not touched the routing since I’ve had it, everything coming out of the main mix.

Your unit might be faulty?

Write Alex, he is sometimes very responsive. And other times not so. But I think he takes hardware issues very seriously.

I bought second hand recently so there’s probably no warranty.

Sad. But I would write to him anyway.

Still, much better to ask the actual designer to uncover if there’s something obvious you’re missing or an OS glitch they should be aware of if they’re not already.

Small companies are a little slow to respond sometimes however reasonable email support is there.

Also perfectly reasonable to ask here before I contact Alex  Cheers.

Hello, my power on boot time is 10 secs, save kit time is around 20 secs, save patterns is around 9 secs, is this the same for you ? There seems a little lag in the interface, example, When I switch from step to function and back to step there seems to be a 2 second lag before you can see the voices being triggered again on each track. In other places as well, Thanks to you and others for your replies, seems like a great community here, cheers

I experience absolutely no such lags.

It sure takes one or two seconds to save songs, which seems long as compared to other machines. But nowhere near 10 seconds.

Okay, thanks, there’s obviously an issue then, thanks for checking, cheers.

I wonder if any of these issues are sd card related. My BB arrives next week.

With the earlier mention of patches I figure it could be a data issue.

Well it arrived. Initial impressions is that is smaller than expected. Sounds great. Just the right amount of noise. It is confusing. Need to read the manual things.
