Works linearly in-between.
Problem might be higher notes vs lower notes, or negative vs positive feedback.

Exactly. If your musical part only covers an octave, it might not be too big of a compromise. But if you’re covering multiple octaves and have a low value for the LP filter it can definitely start sounding out of tune.
In the table in the first post you can see just how big the compensations get at LP=64 and how much they vary as you go up in pitch.
