Tsrono - ergodicities

i’ve got a new album out via Point Source Electronic Arts, slap full of shifting beats & piercing/pensive melodies.

Rytm is featured on every track, often in conjunction with an LXR-02 creating a bed of differing flavors in the drums. the core of everything heard was recorded live, tho some tracks do have a fair bit of editing & some additional components added later. i think the album ended up w/ a good mix of ‘live’ feel without getting too self-indulgent.

there’s also a video included for track 09, fnsinc. hope y’all give it a spin

very cool sounds and rhythms, did you multitrack the rytm or is it stereo outs? really liking the drums mix

glad you’re liking!

Rytm is all stereo out here, mixing of the drums themselves is all done when building kits/patterns (if i remember correctly everything on here was sequenced via Hapax).

however, in post i’m often doing some added EQ/effects on the stereo drum recordings to emphasize aspects mixed incorrectly/inadequately…usually this is simply taming or enhancing the kicks, or the high end hats/etc., that sort of thing. the bulk of everything was mixed as is before recording.

if anyone’s really curious about the drums/mixing process, there’s a ‘raw’ take of track 09, fnsinc, on my Soundcloud i’d uploaded when recorded with no additional anything, just straight out of the machines:

thanks for the info, really like how similar both the unedited and the final versions, delicate mastering with some better stereo separation an eq shows how good it sounds and how little post processing needed

btw, if you don’t mind, I absolutely love the fnsinc video, is that touchdesigner?

appreciate the kind words!

glad you’re digging the video too…i’ve never used touchdesigner, i’m a dummy with coding/programming…have delved into some trying with Processing but never got far.

the video was created using a couple of Max4Live visualizer devices with relatively heavy editing in Shotcut with its built-in effects. i’m working on a more complex video for ergodicit with some of the same tools & ideas, hopefully a bit more refined, tho i’m not sure when i’m going to get that completed.

Superb album ! Well done :fire: looking into possibly sequencing Rytm via Oxi one or Hapax…seems like so much fun to expand the Rytms potential .
Ive been trying to do some glitch stuff using euclidean mode, probability, retrigs etc
Cool vibes keep them
Comimg!

 appreciate that, hope it’s an album you come back to!

yeah sequencing Rytm from external makes things easier but using all the Elektron sequencer style tricks is difficult/nonexistent like that so it’s surely a trade off. just depends on what you’re going for, i’ve done lots of tracks both ways. there’s so much you can do with the Elektron sequencer alone of course, i haven’t even delved into it since the Euclidean addition tho…sure that can enhance that glitchy/twitchy type style

Awesome track! What genre would you describe it as?

thanks, glad you’re digging what you’ve heard!
i just lump it in as IDM i guess? some stuff i’ve done is a little on the braindance side, & i do a fair bit of ambient & drone as well, but this i guess is just sorta generic IDM stuff? i don’t worry about that too much really lol
