My new macbook doesn’t see my digitakt and octatrack. On my older mac was everything okey. I cant connect to ‘transfer’ or ‘overbridge’ app and in the finder i cant see my sdcard from the octa(the octa works well). I tried different variations with cables, gears, and ports. Example, the transfer app can see my tr8s (?!?!). So the usb port is good. And i tried my girlfriends pc (windows) and everything works perfect. So the settings and the cables are also good. What can be the problem?
…even ot’s cv card does’nt show up on new desktop…!?
that’s really weird…
ok…which osx is doing the job…?
and for transfer and ob u gotta make sure, all incredients on both ends run the newest os version and don’t suffer from too small capacity in data traffic…
but that ot is not showing up, can’t be any os version problem…that was always working…no matter what…
checked a different card and if all pins in the slot are still doin’ fine…?
got the old computer to cross check…?
I would assume going on what you’ve said that the new Mac is running Catalina which caused a load of problems over the last few months til companies patched things. Is there any Mac OS updates you could install to have the latest iteration? Latest OS running on DT too? (Not the older Beta one?). That is weird about OT not showing up however. I assume you’ve restarted the computer and boxes a few times to see if it helps?
no, doesnt show up on the desktop. on windows okey. on my mac not… i have mojave. my older mac was also mojave and itwas good… ye i know its realy crazy
I tried doing a little research but not much comes up for this topic. I was hoping there was some security thingy that could be disabled, but this is the only list of advice provided by Apple:
Well, at least that’s something! I assume you’ve tried all combinations of restarting one with the other still running, or restarting Mac then connecting the cable and entering OT disk mode, or the other way round etc
I would concentrate on getting OT’s USB Disk Mode up and running first. That should be the simplest.
What connection is on the Mac? Is it an older USB or USB-C? Any dongles getting in the way? Ah but then they’re recognised in the System Info menu, so it can’t be that.
What version of Mojave are you on? I’m on 10.14.6 and have OT recognised via USB no problem. Can you update the Mac OS to see if it fixes it?
Yey! At least you got them working. When I read through a bit of OT’s manual to find a solution, it mentioned using a battery powered laptop if noise is being heard when connected to USB. Wasn’t expecting this behaviour tho!
Edit: Also, once connected and working, can you put the power supply back into the laptop and they stay working? I blame Apple!
Haha, I think you might’ve found some weird bug between Apple laptops and Elektron boxes (or other USB devices). I was just now happily working away on a mix using DN, OB and my Mac laptop running on battery. Then the battery was getting low so I attached the power supply and, boom, connection to DN in Ableton Live was lost. I could select it as a sound card again straight away and it works on power no problem, but it’s odd that the connection got severed just by connecting the laptop to its power supply
Actually no. A 13” MacBook Air. Maybe the sudden momentary power surge sometimes knocks out connections? Then again, mine isn’t the ideal testing ground as it’s an American machine being run from British/European electrical sockets
I know its unbeliveble but i have an interesting problem. I can’t see my OT sd card or I can’t connect the DT with the transfer app or overbridge while the power cable is in my macbook pro 15" (2015 mid) macOS Mojave. If i use it with battery, everything works perfectly.
I for a second thought this was a comparison of the two companies. Was worried Elektron was trying to replace our IDs with Octatracks, although that may not be a bad thing for a lot of people here.
