Triggering slices in separate sequences - not possible?

Ok, good Octanauts, please help verify if I have this correct/incorrect…

First the setup:

Take a sample and slice it up, save the settings. Assign the sliced sample to T1. In A01 put a sample trig in the first step of the sequence. Now parameter lock the sample and slice #1. In A02 do the exact same thing with the same sample but parameter lock slice #2 instead. (I’m not even sure if locking the sample is even necessary, just doing so to insure success.)

Start the sequencer with A01 playing and then switch to A02. However, when the A02 seq begins, slice #2 doesn’t get played as expected. If you stop the sequencer and restart it, the slice #2 now plays as expected. For some reason it will not play when switched to from another running sequence. (?!)

Slice=on, length=slice, loop=auto (RATE, TSTR, TSNS are unchanged). And I’ve tried “start silent” as well on the track settings. Am I missing some setting?

From what I’ve read in the manual I should be able to parameter lock the start parameter (but specifically the slice number) on static machine samples. But normally people only utilize sliced samples within a given sequence.

I swear I have tried to find the answer with net searches but nothing confirms whether this can work or not. (Glad to be proven wrong here.)
Any help with this is greatly appreciated!

Are you sure your trigs are p-locked to their slices correctly?
Do you have trigs set in both patterns?

I just reconstructed your modus operandi - and it works the way you seem to want it to, according to your description. Note: I am in Grid Mode, using p-locked trigs of the same sample, one is set to SLC 1 (A01) and the other to SLC 4 (A02).

If i change from A01 to A02, the sample gets played from the slice number that i p-locked it to in A02. If i change it back to A01 it starts from the value p-locked in A01.
The sequencer is running, i do not need to press stop/start to make it work.

Did i understand you correctly?

EDIT: in your other thread i noticed someone recommended the “plays free” setting, in this instance, this is what might be interfering with your sequencer trigs.

Thank you MichalHO. It’s good to know that you have it working, which means I have missed a step somewhere.

I’ll go back, recheck and report back to this thread very soon.

In the meantime, could you tell me your playback, amp and track settings?

you’re welcome.

Playback: SLIC: ON, LEN: SLIC. // rest: irrelevant

Track: ‘Plays Free’ is OFF // important! ‘plays free’ “mutes” sequencer trigs, and accordingly, p-locks. you have to make sure it is disabled, for each track in each pattern you want to use this way.

(Amp: Hold INF, Rel INF.) // this is just to make the sample play out

Just wanted to report back that everything is working as expected now. Thank you for your help!
