So i’ve fired up my mpd32 thinking it could be awesome to control the octatrack via extra knobs, and especially pads for triggering…
I was kind of hoping to use the different trig modes like on the 16 trigs, so one track at a time, trigger samples from the sample slot list, or chromatic or even slices from the loaded samples, and switch between the modes… a lot more playable with pads than with the trig buttons…
to my disappointment I can see no cc’s for this in the midi reference…?
please tell me i am wrong…
otherwise, any suggestions for this kind of workflow?
Use MIDI note messages on the appropriate channels to play tracks, samples (or samples chromatically over a two-octave range). The list of available note assignments is given in Appendix C of the Octatrack manual. Beware that MIDI note numbers 60 to 71 control the track recorders and pickup machines.
You can control a lot from externally, a lot of workarounds have been posted for what you can’t map to the controller, and some of us are still waiting for an OS update for this regard.
Same combo here, but tbh it’s much more fun to connect the MPD32 to a RYTM, where even slices and slots can easily be triggered!! (Velocity --> Start parameter, 16 mode)
Just started to test it with FLStudio… Amazing what can be done - not sure if recording is going to be working but this begs a vst plug in with automation capabilities - would be a perfect complement!!!
