Trig Conditions Ideas

Most Elektrons have a fill mode. Some have a fill button, some are labeled “fill” under the page button.

You can do that with fill (plays when fill is engaged) and no fill (does not play when fill is engaged) conditions.

I think I just figured how to do all this (except for the percentage chance for different notes and transposing). Random arps! (Which, BTW, is why Digitone really needs a random arp). So, put down a four-note chord on a trig, p-lock a random arp to On just for that step with the arp speed and note length set so that only one of the four notes fires. Et voila. One of the four notes is chosen each time. Regular TRCs can then be used to decide whether one of the four notes fires or not. I think I’m going to have to get another OT for its random midi arp to investigate this further. Can’t believe I didn’t think of doing this before. Doh! And also yey!

You forgot lfo designer!
16 different notes possible, kind of percentage if you repeat some. Randomized its speed with another lfo, et voilà ! You can also combine TRC with Random Arp.
4 notes on trig 1, X%
4 notes on trig 2, /PRE, microtiming -23

Ex : Randomed comb filter notes with lfo designer at the begining, vs random arp coming progressively (higher notes).
(Sorry to post it again!)

The new Accumulator function on the recently announced Intellijel Metropolix is about the most unique new (that I’m aware of) sequencer feature I’ve seen.

I’m not at all into probability features but lean very heavily on TRC on my A4. For this reason alone I would have a hard time giving up my A4.

I know it would never happen but I would love to see an A4 sized external sequencer with as many as 8 CV/Gate/Mod tracks and 8 MIDI tracks for same (a la Octatrack) and a simple stereo in/out for some master effects processing (multiband EQ/compressor/saturator).

Add some new features like playback direction etc.

Simple. A note would be played when another pattern is queued. This way the artist could program specific sounds that play just before the next pattern.

Can’t that be done with fill ? I know that’s more work for fingers to do on top of queuing the next pattern, but :man_shrugging:

EDIT: Oops I see I already replied similarly in February

Yes it can, but I would rather leave the Fill button for more “in pattern” tricks than the “transition” trick. This is how I described the feature request that I sent yesterday:

“The condition that came through my mind recently would be an excellent thing while playing live. It would be called Queued. So a note would be played only when another pattern is queued. This way the artist could program specific sounds that play just before the next pattern.”

Having a not option for that would be great too for making certain things mute before a pattern change.

Having a pattern chained with a sequencer trig, would also be a neat idea. (would require a list of program changes to choose.) (yes, there is that arranger, which can also mute stuff etc, but from the sequencer, it might be a cool workflow, if you have a button to ignore the sequencer advance trig, and once pressed, it continues quantized.)
I.e. a performance sequencer.
