Transition problem (octatrack & digitakt

Hey guys I know that there are a number of topis on this but I can’t get my brain around this.

So I changed my setup to be more flexible and more portable. So now I use :

  • Octatrack MKII
  • Digitakt
  • Roland SH01a
    plus a bunch of effects.

The DT is the master and drummachine of the setup. The OT does the rest and serves as a mixer.

I worked really hard on songs and getting really to know the different elektron machines.

But here is my problem. I looked up how to do transitions and came accros the fader method and the Part method. But both of them aren’t really working out for me.
Fader method : Well my track 7 & 8 are already “thru” tracks so in order for it to work I would need to use another track to record and another one as a master track. That would leave me only 4 tracks for samples which isn’t really the best .
Part method : Well not really working for me ^^

I tried a solution on the digitakt which would be perfect but I haven’t found any good tutorial like there is for the OT.

Maybe somebody much wiser than me could help me out?

You can assign one track with a Flex machine for recording a loop, and crossfade between that and both of your Thru tracks, if you wanted to. You aren’t limited to fading 1 to 1!

I tried that. did the recording setup and placed the triggers but I only get a weird recording of the internal sound despite the fact that I chose Internal + external?

Ok I got it setup. looping works but after 1 bar I got a volume drop and than it stays at a lower volume. Any ideas?

Search the forums for gain staging discussions  there is a lot to read. There are several places to adjust the volume; try the AMP page

If you are monitoring your sound through the headphone output on the octatrack and you are sampling from the thru machines by using the cue method, make sure to crank the headphone all the way to main in mixer. Nine times out of ten when I have volume problems, it is because I forget I hear some tracks doubled when I have them both on the cue and main channel.

With default settings, try VOL = +63
No volume loss theorically, it compensates -12db attributes.
