Now THAT is Trance. None of that bees in a tin shit.
Also these I would call trance as they do what it says, put you in a trance.

(one of my personal favorites of all time)
(also one of my favorites of all time)
I remember when this was released it was nuts, it’s pretty close to one of the first “dj sets” you could get on a record

Virus is king of the trance synths
If Trance is good enough for the master, it’s good enough for me:
Ooh! Just to add a bit of live trance. I remember walking up to the dance temple at boom 2006 and getting absolutely captivated by the beats blasting over the crowd, only to look up and realise a live band was playing and it was soooo good. Big ups to the Highlight tribe:
Legit this sounded so good on 100kW of funktion 1!

heared them play almost on every edition of boom from 2012, they are amazing!
I’m adding Juno Reactor as they are also amazing live and in the studio
also, some more old school stuff:

Anybody recommend any modern synths for some nice trance sounds? Obviously the virus but that’s quite expensive. I’ve been looking at the modal cobalt.
Hydrasynth is well capable.
I don’t think you need to have a virus TI though. Any of the earlier ones would do a good job.
Also any of the SH-101 variants are part of the classic sound.

honestly I’d go for software, serum/vital/phase plant/anything else, imo the workflow is just insanely faster to both synthesis and quickly recording/manipulating stuff, also the current bitwig modulations state and the grid are just beyond anything you can imagine you’d want to do, I’m soooo tempted to get bitwig just because I’m blown away by it’s grid and overall workflow from what I’ve seen.
dunno, that’s my opinion…
Other than classic Roland’s I’d probably just for software like NI Massive (I’m sure the new Massive X is just as capable but I haven’t used it a lot). Also Serum and Sylenth 1 would be great too.
