Banger! First heard it on Oakenfold’s Cream Anthems 97 CD which I borrowed from the library as a youngster and it has always stuck with me, such a powerful track. I guess it’s in between trance and techno in some ways. There’s some great earlier 90s stuff that straddles that line before genres became so ridgid.

If others are interested in this period, I’d love to build up a little community posting songs and getting critiques as we try to get closer and closer to that vibe! But this might not be the topic for it. “Trance” is a much bigger and more-encompassing thing now.

That would be a great idea. A friend of mine recently told me that he believes you should only make music that you truly love - and a style that I truly love is that turn of the millennium trance sound (Push/MIKE, Bonzai etc. ). I have nothing to contribute yet but I plan on really giving it a go the next few months.
I listened to your first track and I think it definitely has the vibe.

I saw BT live many years ago in San Diego and enjoyed his performance!
For trance music production, the Roland Juno and Virus synthesizers are legendary plus having a talented female vocalist on board.

What’s so cool about that period is that it was a quite diverse/wide range of sound/style. A LOT of stuff was trance back then that would’ve been a weird sub genre in another genre completely today
Not as in the actual styles, that’s a different discussion, but the width of it. Something would be trance then, but something comparatively ”different” to current trance now gets put somewhere else entirely

I was never a fan of vocals in trance, they always seemed to veer towards cliche and cheese to me.

even at the time, i always tended toward the “tougher” trance beats like stuff on Metropolitan, with the occasional hand-raiser thrown in for a nice anthem-y break
Are you working with hardware or ITB?
It kind of depends where I am when I have a moment to start working on a thing 
The important thing to me is more that I have sounds that cover 909s, 303s, analog, VA, and ROMpler stuff with sends to a delay and reverb. If I’ve got that, I’m more or less good to go without getting bogged down in details. I’ve got a rack that has all that wired up (using TR-8, Super BassStation, System-1, EssenceFM, and JV-2080), and given my druthers, that’s where I prefer to be. But sometimes I’m on the road or at work (or I’ve sent my mixer out for repair 
) and in that case I have templates for Logic and Bitwig that do more or less the same.
Then also, usually my ideas for modulation of a thing fit nicely within its LFOs (this is part of that “vintage” sound I feel). But sometimes they’re larger or just easier with automation. And automation = DAW for me, almost 100% of the time. Oh, and samples. I don’t really enjoy hardware samplers. So if a vocal part or something is integral to the idea, that will always be a DAW song.

It means a lot to me, was not a lot in trance clubs then. More techno. But now i spend a loot of time listening to assorted trance , techno and acid on youtube, ( I already know most stuff he is posting now, but for example the new essential guide to solar quest mix is great and new for me) curated by label or genre;
or on 2trancentral by year,
now i have by country also haha, and maybe I get the book.
Union jack and other on platipus meant a lot to me also, my favs are 91 to 93 sounds from frankfurt, a bit later pablo gargano and many others.
Nice tracks from you! I try jamming simple acid trance stuff with dn and other, not getting near something finished.
