Just received a Pico III from Erica. Shipping was very fast to Chicago, I ordered it a few hours after the Toneverk and still haven’t heard anything from Detroit about my Toneverk.
No surcharges when I placed the order or from FedEx.
Edit (May 2026): I DID receive a tariff bill for the Pico III about six months later. Poorly coded, and the bill was dated just before the dispute window closed but received just after).
Both UPS and FedEx are now claiming that they will automatically refund everyone billed.
Just want to note another thing happening that while different in origin, may affect price and availability of goods ( synths in our case ) manufactured in China, with a destination of Europe.
I will make the one post here, to make the explicit request that if there is interest in this topic, and it continues and gets worse, that someone starts a new thread for its discussion.
Poland as a result of the Zapad military drills in Belarus, and the reported escalations, has closed the border with Belarus. This will stop this rail transport connection of €25 billion of goods made in China and sold in Europe annually.
China is now negotiating with Poland over this matter. If it does not resolve the alternatives are transport by sea, or rail transport via a different route., or other options.
How this might affect the prices and availability of synths and gear in Europe, is not clear at the moment.
I am placing this post here as a marker directing all further discussion elsewhere.
By the way, posting in this thread has been mostly pretty good and focused on topic, so keep that up. It’s tempting to let it fray, and we all know what can happen then.
This thread is not about economic collapse nor really the political origins of any of this.
My Rodec one has a mini styler , line preamp, and 3 band EQ modules. It has shipped through DHL. Value is €1200. No news yet but I will wait until I sign for the box. Update coming in the next few days.
It’s tempting to take the bait but I really don’t want this thread locked. It’s the only place we can actually discuss the tarrifs’ impact on music gear.
New shinies are the absolute least of my worries, but there is no real separation of powers between the executive and legislative at the moment. Everything is “up for grabs” right now.
In that you can get waivers if you can afford to donate millions of dollars in the form of “liberty tokens”.
Agreed ! We also don’t know if the Supreme Court may wave them off entirely as unconstitutional. Supposedly the government will pay you back if that happens, but you can’t be sure of that either.
