Track 8 as master for all Octatrack live set?

Hey fellow Elektronauts,

I’m starting a new project, experimental techno.
(I found that the octatrack is exceptional especially for techno, in my experience)
I’ve practices for many years on the octa with this kind of thing but now I want to make a serious live set with just my octa. No other gear at all.
If you were to do such a thing, would you set track 8 as the master or keep track 8 for sounds? What are the main benefits of track 8 as a master especially for a complete live set? I’m doing everything on the octa so an extra track might be essential, on the other hand, limitations are mostly great for techno kind of music.

I would use t8 to tame harsh frequencies and compression.

Ive always used the 8th track as a master. Mainly for reverb and compression gives everything depth and punch

I really like T8 Master with Compressor + Reverb too, but for live looping I’d like to record Main (using Cue for other fx). If you play the recording through Master again it’s problematic.
Hard choice, as it’s per project.

Yep. Hard Choice. I want to do a complete set with one project. But I think I’ll go for the 8 master. I might inspire a good sense of minimalism. Less is more kinda thing. Good for techno anyways. And there are workaround like sample per trig and such.
